QikServe: introducing the team
It was brilliant to be able to introduce you to QikServe last week, one of the latest EIS-eligible investment opportunities to launch on the GrowthFunders equity crowdfunding and co-investment platform.
To recap, QikServe is the enterprise platform for guest self-service in hospitality. Using a variety of channels, from kiosks and tablets to web and mobile apps, hospitality operators can provide powerful in-store solutions from the point of ordering to making payment, giving guests the convenience of being able to order and pay for their food and drinks whenever and however they want.
The technology-based solutions business, operating mainly in the food and beverage sector at present, has a founding team of six people. All with a plethora of experience, commercial acumen and skills to bring to the table, today I wanted to provide an introduction.
Daniel Rodgers | Chief Executive Officer and Founder
Daniel is a ‘serial entrepreneur’ who was involved in a number of ventures before seeing an opportunity in the market six years ago with QikServe; an opportunity to disrupt global hospitality with digital self-service.
With experience in Operations, Quality Assurance and Consultancy, and an (MBA) Masters in Business Administration from Edinburgh Napier University, Daniel has a vast and encompassing set of skills, allowing him to lead the company into their next stage of growth alongside the other talented and knowledgeable members of the QikServe executive team.
To ensure QikServe is on the digital pathways that lead to mobile self-service, Daniel has delivered on market opportunities, such as kiosk, and has increased the focus on a smaller number of market segments, including travel hospitality.
Ronnie Forbes | Co-Founder
Ronnie, like Daniel, is a successful serial entrepreneur and is fanatical about enabling consumer mobile self-service – now for Hospitality through QikServe.
With 15 years’ experience building hi-tech start-ups, Ronnie was Founder of Mobiqa - a mobile tracking pioneer - which he built and navigated to a successful exit to NCR Omni-Channel Solutions. He also worked successfully with IATA (International Air Transport Association) to bring mobile check-in and barcoded boarding passes to air travel.
Martin Mutch | Chairman
Martin has worked with many successful organisations and talented people over the past 30 years; initially in staff roles then as a founder/CEO, and latterly as an investor, advisor, Non Executive Director and now a chair for QikServe.
The Digital Economy in Scotland, where QikServe are based, is doing well with huge potential and Martin is enjoying working with business leaders and founders in some truly pioneering businesses with significant global opportunity.
On a more personal level, since 2013 Martin has also been working with a group of current and former pro-photographers, creatives and plain appreciators of photography, to establish an annual not-for-profit Festival of Photography in Scotland. The festival had its first edition in 2014 and 2017 is set to be the best yet.
Michael Lloyd | Chief Operating Officer
Michael, known as Mick to his colleagues and friends, started his career in the telecoms industry before joining healthcare financial improvement software provider Craneware plc where, over a 12 year period, he held various key roles, finally creating a PMO (project management office) department.
Mick is a true IT management professional, with a proven track record in building and leading teams, managing products and projects, and process improvement to effectively drive and support business growth. His role before joining QikServe was with Solarwinds MSP where he led the PMO department. Mick is a registered PRINCE 2 practitioner with experience in contract negotiations and acquisition management.
Sif Rai | Chief Marketing Officer
Sif joined QikServe with almost 20 years’ senior marketing experience across multiple technology sectors and at companies including Touch Bionics and Blackford Analysis, leading marketing and product management programmes that add commercial value and increase competitive advantage.
With experience spanning medical devices, software and telecoms, she has a strong focus on supporting tech companies through key growth stages with highly effective B2B marketing strategies.
As a marketing practitioner, Sif develops and executes marketing strategies that successfully increase brand awareness, drive business growth and increase profits.
Sif has gained experience across multiple hi-tech sectors such as medical/healthcare and IT with a strong focus on B2B markets, meaning she has specialities in fintech, hospitality, SaaS, disruptive technology and telecoms but to name a few.
Samuel Peachey | Chief Financial Officer
Sam joined QikServe from healthcare software firm Craneware plc, where he spent eight years as part of the leadership team alongside Mick Lloyd (QikServe’s COO) and saw the company expand its operations organically and by acquisition in both the UK and the US to a market capitalisation of over £300 million.
Prior to industry, Sam worked in Practice as a Fellow of the Certified Chartered Accountants for a decade in assurance and advisory services gaining an ACCA qualification alongside a decade of experience, skills and knowledge of financials and their associated business functions.
The QikServe EIS-eligible investment opportunity
From the overview team introductions above, it has been demonstrated that the six key members of the QikServe founding team have a range of skills encompassing most key business functions allowing them to complement each others skills, focusing on business growth, whilst identifying the areas into which they need to recruit key team members.
This is part of the proposed deployment of funds for this capital raise - to recruit new employees to enhance the existing skill sets and enable further growth and expansion of both the in-house capabilities and provision of service.
