WATCH ON-DEMAND: exploring the Enterprise Investment Scheme
Earlier today we hosted our latest webinar, this time focusing on the Enterprise Investment Scheme and how it has been encouraging investment into early-stage British businesses for over two decades.
Joined by Norm Peterson (co-founder and CEO, GCV) and Mark Brownridge (Director General, EISA), the 30 minute session offered a brilliant insight into various aspects of the EIS.
As with all of our webinars, this was recorded in full and is available to watch on-demand by clicking here.
What did the webinar cover?
Taking a different approach to our previous webinars, the session was very much a discussion around five different topics related to the EIS. We wanted get the views of both Norm and Mark on the past, present and future potential of the scheme, and as such we touched on:
- Why the EIS has been so successful to date
- The positive increases in investment amounts in recent years
- Whether the number of investors into EIS-eligible opportunities could be greater
- The role of the EIS in our growing startup economy
- What we could expect to happen with the EIS over the next 10 years
Providing some really interesting insights, we finished the webinar with Norm and Mark taking part in a live Q&A, with once again some brilliant questions asked.
Understanding the benefits of the EIS
Our focus at GrowthFunders is not to offer any type of formal advice or guidance and we always recommend you take professional, financial advice before making any form of investment.
Instead, we want to raise the profile of the EIS, explaining the many benefits of the scheme for both investors and entrepreneurs alike. For the latter, the key focus of the scheme has always been to help entrepreneurs gain the investment they need to take their startup to the next level. For the former, the scheme offers a vast array of tax reliefs designed to help mitigate the levels of risk associated with investing in companies at this level.
And with our latest webinar, this is exactly what we wanted to achieve - to get the experienced insights from two of the industry's most knowledgeable individuals on what has become one of the UK's most beneficial and generous investment schemes available.
