Business funding solutions

Alternative finance

We launched an e-petition some time ago – here’s why…

Inhibited economic stimulus and recovery…

Entrepreneurs and small businesses are the lifeblood of the UK economy but the prevailing economic climate, coupled with the reduced accessibility of traditional funding sources, is conspiring to stifle start-up and growth.

The result is that we have some hugely talented and innovative entrepreneurs and viable businesses being thwarted of opportunities to reach their full potential. In addition, this is inhibiting economic stimulus and recovery, as well as job creation.

Alternative sources of finance, including crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending, are gathering pace and both have the potential to significantly contribute towards business growth and job creation.

Limited equity investment in business…

Equity investment in unlisted businesses - start-ups, early stage and established Pre-IPO businesses is generally limited to high net worth individuals or sophisticated investors. However, equity based crowdfunding platforms open up these investment opportunities to a wider audience of suitably qualified investors.

In order for this market to develop and mature, it is essential that Government policy and regulation is clear for platform operators, investors and investee companies alike to ensure that risks and responsibilities are understood and that transparency and accountability is maintained.

Alternative finance solutions including equity crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending are gathering pace. This growing marketplace is providing investors with access to tax efficient investments.

For entrepreneurs, platforms provide much needed access to business finance, including seed capital and funding to support growth and expansion.
